The One Piece Challenge is a simple way to remind people that even the small things we do can make a big difference for our environment. With every presentation we end with this sentiment:

We want to challenge everyone to do a very simple challenge, and our goal is to make it go global. We offer the Mr. Drew's One Piece Challenge and it goes like this; We want each and every one of you to simply pick up one piece of trash you find on the ground each day and throw it away properly. That's it. Just one piece. Why do you ask? Because it is so easy to do!

One person doing this will clean 365 pieces of trash a year. If every person picked one piece one day, that's over 8 billion pieces of trash in one day. If everyone, each day, for one year, picked up one piece of trash, that would be 2 trillion and nine hundred twenty billion pieces. That's a lot of trash

If we each pick up one piece of trash today, we guarantee tomorrow will be a better day for you, me, the animals we share our planet with, and the planet itself. Every day is Earth Day, not just one day a year. Our Earth is the one undeniable thing we all have in common. It is our home, not a trash can. If we can all work together, we can make tomorrow better for everyone one piece at a time. That sounds like a pretty good deal to us.

So take the challenge. Do it every day. Lead by example. Take it seriously. Spread the word, and together we CAN make tomorrow better one piece at a time.
